Are You A Peculiar Person?

If you want to follow Christ and progress daily… this is for you.

First I must start by saying… when you choose to become a follower of Christ you have chosen to become a peculiar person. You are not like your neighbours, work colleges, school friends or anyone else who has not accepted Christ.

These are some explanations of the word “peculiar” from the dictionary.

Peculiar:
1. uncommon; unusual:
2. distinctive in nature or character from others.
3. belonging exclusively to some person, group, or thing

This is what the Bible says:

1 Peter 2:9
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

If this is what the Bible says you are then do you stand out? Are you that peculiar person? Does your character stand out? Does your behaviour stand out? Do the words you say stand out? Can someone point at you and say:

“you see that person over there… there is something different about them.”

You are supposed to be seen as peculiar because society thinks it is normal to follow a life full of sin. When you come along not cursing, not smoking, not taking drugs, not fighting, not gossiping, not doing the latest dance, not fake thugging, not sleeping around… they see you as peculiar. In this time of history it is peculiar to do what is right and live a clean life.

Now prepare yourself to be a follower of Christ.

1 John 5:21
Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.

This verse is making you understand that by having idols, they are not putting you on the Way of Christ.

John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

So if you want to progress on the Way of Christ you will have to remove idols out of your life that are taking your focus off Christ. This means your wall is going to look different. All the posters of your sports stars, pop stars, hip hop stars, pastors (if you worship them) and celebs will have to come down. This was something I had to do also many years ago. Even my huge classic poster of Jordan and Ewing both jumping to get the ball came down. I know a lot of people will not agree to this. Well that is your decision. It just proves how much of a stronghold these idols may have a hold on you and may be hindering you from living with a free mind.

This following info is for followers of Christ who are fans of mainstream music artists who have posters of your idols on your wall. For example, this is for Jay Z fans. Now don’t get me wrong. I am not saying anything about Jay Z. Jay Z is a grown man who makes his own decisions. What he does is his choice and I am not judging him at all. At the time this article was written, Jay Z is not in the family of God so I am not talking bad about him or against him.

For you who claim you are in the family of God you should consider why it is contradictory to have Jay Z’s picture on your wall. These lyrics from one of his songs say:

“So just, take off your shirt, don't hit me with that church sh*t b*tch
I got a sister who schooled me to sh*t you chickens do.”

As you have become a follower of Christ; when you remove all hindrances and idols out of your heart, soul and mind… you have made yourself ready to become like an empty jar ready to be filled with water. The jar is empty because you decided to empty your heart, soul and mind of your old life. By your own decision you chose to be available, washed and ready to intake water that will benefit the innermost parts of you.

John 4:14
But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

Only people who have emptied their jar of their old life can receive this pure water from Christ.

Remember when Jesus was at the wedding and they ran out of wine?

John 2:7
Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.

When Jesus sees that you (the water pot/ jar) is available to be used then you are ready to receive water that springs up to everlasting life. After Jesus done what he did to turn the water into wine, the wine was ready to be served to others. You got to realize that the water pot/jar (you) still had the same body but inside the jar (you) a miracle had taken place. What was inside the jar (you) was then poured out for others to drink and digest. What came from the jar (you) was delicious because you were empty, filled with the spring of everlasting water, then a miracle (wine) happened inside you… then what was inside of you was shared with others which delighted them very much. All this was possible because:

1. You were emptied
(You repented of your sins and accepted Jesus Christ)

2. You were washed
(You were baptized in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost)

3. You allowed the pure spring of water to come into your life
(You asked God for the Holy Ghost and he gave it to you)

4. You were filled to the brim and ready for your miracle
(You learnt what the Holy Ghost taught you)

5. Your miracle happened and others experienced what was stored inside of you
(It was time for you to be used for Gods purpose)

6. What was inside of you brought joy to the souls of those who drank from the jar (you)
(What the Holy Ghost done through you was amazing to the people who witnessed it)

7. All this was made possible because you are a peculiar person who followed the way of Christ.
(You are a child of God)

John 2:10
And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.

Yes! You are the good wine. The best! Prepared to quench the thirst of those who need what is overflowing from you. This wine that is inside of you is miraculous wine. It is wine that Jesus Christ’s Holy Spirit had ordered and touched. I am sure that they had such a great time at the wedding when they tasted that wine. The wine inside of you should be ready to be poured out and make others rejoice. You are a peculiar person.

1 Peter 2:9
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

God can touch the lives of anybody. Even your life! He can even use you to touch someone else’s life. Just remember; it is God who gets the glory out of all the miraculous things that take place. Honour the jar (person) but don’t worship the jar (person). Take care of the jar so the jar does not fall and break… because one day you may become like the jar ready and available for the water in you to turn into miraculous wine.
